In the cycling and hiking season from May to the end of October guided hikes are offered that go directly from the hotel and from Füssen Tourismus. Please remember to pack sturdy mountain or hiking boots and appropriate clothing for your hiking holiday.

Mountain or valley? Suggestions for tours that start from the hotel door
Hopfensee Lake Circuit
Start by going downhill towards the lakeside promenade. From there, a pleasant, signposted circular trail goes around the Hopfensee Lake and forest (signposted ‘Hopfensee-Rundweg’). Several benches invite you to take a short break every now and then. In the village, the path leads you along the busy promenade along the lake.
Thanks to its shallow waters, the Hopfensee is one of the warmest lakes in the whole of Bavaria. In addition to the lido, surfing, sailing, fishing and a boat hire service complete the range of activities on offer around the lake.
Route: 7.8 km Duration: brisk pace 1 hour / leisurely pace with breaks approx. 2 hours
Hopfen castle ruins
An easy hike - ideal for an evening walk.
Start at the hotel entrance and walk uphill to the left until you reach the first junction. There you follow the path to the left past the Schweizer Haus and a mountain farm. Through the forest and past the high moor, the trail leads to the once mighty and important Hopfen Castle, the oldest stone castle in the Allgäu region. There you will find a fantastic panorama over the Ammergau to the Tannheim and Allgäu Alps across to Ludwig II's castles.The return path goes diagonally right down to Burgweg and joins Bergstraße. From there it takes you back to the hotel.

Faulensee Circuit
The short hike for families and beginners starts at the hotel entrance on the left across the Enzensberg. You hike through the cool Hopfen forest past the Koppenkreuz (a solid oak cross) to the beautiful Faulensee Lake. In summer, Faulensee Lake invites you to take a break and go swimming.Tip for a refreshment stop: Reinis Faulenseehütte with adventure playground.
Circuit: approx. 6 km | Duration: approx. 1 1/4 hours
Senkele Circuit
An extensive tour from the Hopfensee Lake through meadows and forest to hillside pasture Alpe Beichelstein with moderate gradients.
After a few metres on the Hopfensee lakeside promenade, you pass through the Vilser car park and enter the Hopfen forest. Later, you hike for a short distance through sunny meadows before the route climbs noticeably to the hamlet of Ober-Langegg and on to the hillside pasture Alpe Beichelstein.During the short alpine summer, young cattle graze on the hillside pastures around Beichelstein and Senkele. Display boards along the trail provide information about, among other things, the origin of the beech forest, which is uncommon for this region.
The last kilometres of the hike from the eastern end of the Senkele ridge run first along a sunny section and then along sparse forest paths to the Koppenkreuz (a solid oak cross) and on to the Hopfen castle ruins - once the first castle in the region and now a panoramic pulpit.Route: approx. 17 km | Duration: approx. 5 1/4 hours

Rest and refreshment stops for hikers
- Schlossbergalm near Eisenberg / Hopferau (approx. 7 km): wonderful hiking trail through the forest from the village.
- Alpe Beichelstein near Seeg (approx. 8 km): situated at 930 m. Accessible on foot, by bike or by car.
- Käsealp at the Lehern alpine dairy near Hopferau (approx. 5 km): Rest and refreshment at the ‘Allgäu Beer and Cheese Hiking Trail’.
- Salober Alm near Füssen (approx. 6 km): above the Alatsee Lake at an altitude of 1,150 m with a fantastic view.
- Rohrkopfhütte near Schwangau (approx. 15 km): at eye level with the royal castles on the Tegelberg at 1,320 m.
- Buchenberg Alm near Halblech (approx. 15 km): viewing plateau at an altitude of 1,140 m with a view of 13 lakes.
- Gundhütte near Pfronten (approx. 18 km): On the southern slope of the Edelsberg at an altitude of 1,180 m with a beautiful sun terrace.
- Hündeleskopfhütte near Pfronten-Kappel (approx. 14 km): The first vegetarian alpine hut restaurant with an authentic atmosphere.
- Alpe Kögelhof near Eisenberg (approx. 13 km): an ideal rest and refreshment stop for hikers and cyclists.
