Around Füssen there are well signposted tours around lakes, through forests and meadows to inspire you. Füssen Tourism offers guided tours for mountain bikes and e-bikes. The Allgäu Active Partner Agency provides further guided cycling and mountain bike tours locally as well as technique training as required.
Germany's most extraordinary long-distance cycling route, the Allgäu Cycling Route takes you on a 450 km long tour of the most beautiful corners of the Allgäu. From easy to challenging, but always through the breathtaking landscape. It is considered to be a cycling route without a starting point and an end point.During the cycling season we rent out e-bikes and pedelecs.

Cycling tour tips

Kneipp cycle tour
During your cycling holiday in the Allgäu, take an extensive bicycle tour on the theme Sebastian Kneipp’s 5 elements: Passing the Weissensee Lake, Alatsee Lake, the natural lakes in Bad Faulenbach, Forggensee Lake and Hopfensee Lake.
Start at the hotel in the direction of Füssen to the Lech bridge. Immediately before the bridge, turn right and cycle along the banks of the Lech to Bad Faulenbach. Straight ahead, the "Valley of the Senses" route will appear on the left with a Kneipp pool and herb garden. The tour runs past the Mittersee and Obersee lakes and to the Alatsee laket where the next opportunity awaits to refresh yourself in a Kneipp pool. Continue to the Weissensee Lake to the next Kneipp facility near the bathing area. Here, the trail branches off to the right, crosses the main road and runs along side roads via Schwarzenbach, Hubmannsegg and Hopferried to Lehern, where you can stop for a refreshment break at the inviting alpine dairy. Turn left down on to the cycle path to Hopferau and at the entrance to the village follow the cycle path to the right until you reach the Hopfensee Lake.

Emmentaler Cycle Route
The tour leisurely runs on roads with little traffic past numerous hamlets, farms and ‘cheese stations’.
The bike tour starts at the hotel in the direction of Uferstraße, continue right to the end of the village towards Hopferau.The route continues to the Walder Käskuche, the MVO Emmental cheese dairy and the Lipp farm cheese dairy in Rückholz, then past the Schwaltenweiher pond via the Weizern mountain cheese dairy, the Maria Hilf pilgrimage church and the Mariahilfer brewhouse to the Lehern alpine dairy back to the Hopfensee Lake.

Hopferwald circuit
The cycle tour runs along small roads, forest tracks and cycle paths through the Alpine foothills with the best views of the nearby mountain peaks.
Start at the hotel and ride to the waterside promenade, then follow the cycle path signs to the right. At the first junction outside the village, turn right and up the road slightly. After approx. 1 km, turn right into the Hopferwald. Then take the forest track. Keep on following the course of the track and you will reach the Faulensee Lake. Continue to Rieden. Simply follow the cycle path along the main road and then the cycle path signs to Osterreinen. From here the route continues directly along the banks of the Forggensee Lake to the festival theatre Festspielhaus in Füssen. At the first roundabout, cycle right towards Hopfen back to the starting point.

Forggensee Lake Circuit
A moderately difficult cycle tour mainly on paved paths awaits you on this tour during your cycling holiday in the Allgäu. You’ll have a panoramic view of the mountains as you cycle around Bavaria's fifth largest lake.
Start from the hotel in the direction of the Füssen boat harbour. Go a short distance along the Weidachstraße, then branch off to the right in the direction of the festival theatre Festspielhaus. Forggensee Lake will then accompany you on the right-hand side. The cycle path goes past Rieden to Roßhaupten - at the small Roman-themed art park and the large dam wall at the hydroelectric power station - via the ‘Panoramastadl’ kiosk to the Illasbergsee Lake. Villages, meadows and forests follow before the route continues to Waltenhofen, Schwangau-Horn across the Lech river and back to Füssen. The tour leads back to Hopfen am See via the boat harbour.

Bike tour to the Pilgrimage Church of Wies
The route runs along the Romantic Road to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Pilgrimage Church of Wies - a rococo jewel.
You start in Hopfen am See on the left in the direction of Füssen - It is a highlight worth seeing on your cycle tour in the Allgäu. From there you cycle to Schwangau, Buching, Trauchgau via the Trauchgauer Almstube to the Wieskirche. The majority of the routes (approx. 20 km) are quiet flat trails. There are only ascents on the last section of the route, approx. 9 km from the Trauchgauer Almstube.
You should definitely plan some time to visit the church. The return journey follows the same route in reverse or via Steingarden, Lechbruck, Roßhaupten back to Hopfen.
